By pulling a knob on the outside of the model, small LEGO bricks drop from a compartment in the bottom. ![]() The finished model also features a clever 'bomb' dropping mechanism utilizing several LEGO Technic pieces. The LEGO model closely follows the appearance of the 'real' version of this powerful ship, providing space inside for the three Clone Pilot minifigures and R5-D4 Astromech Droid minifigure included with the set. The 'real' ARC-170 had a technologically advanced class 1.5 Hyperdrive system, was equipped with two laser cannons in front and two in back, a proton torpedo launcher and could carry three people and a droid. The ship saw extensive action in the Republic Navy during the end of the Clone Wars. It first appeared toward the beginning of the film, Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith. In the Star Wars fiction, the ARC-170 Starfighter is a direct ancestor of the X-Wing fighter, thus it is similar in appearance to the later ship. This retired set will make an excellent addition to any Star Wars LEGO collection. Build the original LEGO ARC-170 Starfighter model with this 408 piece set from 2005. ![]()
